Disability is part of the human condition. Globally over 1 billion persons, or 15 percent of the
world’s population live with some form of disability. In Somalia, as in most regions of Africa,
persons with disabilities face exclusion, discrimination and challenges that bar them from
enjoying their fundamental rights and ensure their inclusion in development. The ability of
persons with disabilities to participate in society is often frustrated on the ground of their
disabilities.
